Discussion | To Live is Christ To Die is Gain

Today we learned that to live is Christ and to die is gain. Saul Angered the Jewish Leaders by proving that Jesus was the Messiah. The Jewish leaders got so irritated that they actually tried to murder him. Unbelievably this happened twice in about a week. Once in Damascus and once in Jerusalem. In this story, we see that he is fully living his life for Christ, and if he dies because of it, he will then be in heaven and better off anyway!

Lesson

To live is Christ and to die is gain.

Questions

  1. I once had a Youth pastor say to me if you are not risking something in your life to live for Jesus then are you really living for Jesus? I think this is a great question for us to talk about.
  2. God is continually revealing to me things that I need to lay down, or give up in order to follow him more fully? What is something that he may be asking you to give up?
  3. The Jewish leaders were offended by what Saul had to say even though Saul spoke the truth. The truth can be offensive but we need to speak it clearly. What are some issues where you can speak truth into them?

Growth Tip

So the growth tip is… A Pible… or Paper Bible for those who don’t know. This is something I found a few years ago that helped me stay focused.

We look at screens A lot, especially these days. So I found that I did enjoy reading the bible from the app on my phone. I went out, and I bought a paper bible that I didn’t mind marking up, throwing in my backpack, and bringing with me everywhere. I keep one that was a gift in better condition at my desk. But the one I bring with me all the time is great, flexible, and I’m okay with highlighting or writing in the margins of it. There is something nice about an actual book and not a screen.

Prayer Requests

At the end of your discussion, go around the group and ask for prayer requests.
