Discussion | Fear the Lord and Faithfully Serve Him
Jon: Welcome to the discussion Episode for the Story, Fear the Lord and faithfully serve him.
Bradon: In today’s story Samuel gave a speech and says to Israel that they were wrong to ask for a king. They have sinned and if they don’t turn their hearts back to God it won’t go well for them. And encouraged and challenged them to Fear the Lord and faithfully serve him.
God created the world and everything that is in it – the heavens, the earth, and us, humanity. We have fallen from that perfect place and long to be back there.
The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.
For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.

Bradon: We read about Saul stepping into leadership for the first time and leading his people to victory over the Ammonites and saving the Jabesh people. Saul is finally given the kingship and the end of the chapter! And all the people of Israel celebrated him.

Bradon: Today, we heard about Israel turning away from their false Gods and back to God. They dedicated themselves to God. They asked Samuel to pray to God to save them from the Philistines. Amazingly that is exactly what happened. God save Israel. We learned that God wants all of us!
