Discussion | Faith is Kingdom Focused

Jon: You are listening to discussion questions for the episode titled “God’s Judgement is perfect.”

Bradon: We learned about a story where Israel did evil, and God handed them over to the Canaanites, who oppressed them for 20 years. Deborah, a prophetess and judge of Israel, called Barak to lead Israel and free them from the oppression. Barak insisted that Deborah go with and together they led Israel and God saved them from the Canaanites.

Questions

Jon: God will allow us to suffer the natural consequences of sinful behaviour. We have two scenarios we want you to think through the natural consequences of each.

  1. Bradon: A group of friends begin talking behind another person’s back. The conversation gets pretty negative, and they speak poorly of that person. What are some of the natural consequences?
  2. Jon: A child seems to have a hard time sharing with their brothers and sisters. What are some of the natural consequences?
  3. Bradon: What are some possible ways grace could be shown in both scenarios? Remember, the point of grace is to help people grow closer to Jesus, rather than getting away with doing wrong things.

Growth Tip

Bradon: A growth tip is a way for us all to grow in a relationship with Jesus.

Jon: Today, we want you to have a conversation with a friend about an issue.

Bradon: In this conversation, answer two questions. How is God just, and how is being gracious?

Jon: If the issue is still ongoing, it may be challenging to answer these questions, which is why we need a friend.

Bradon: Friends bring a perspective that we don’t have and are a huge help! One piece of advice, be kind. We can often say things with a little more force than we intend, and people are fragile when going through hard times.

Prayer Requests

At the end of your discussion, go around the group and ask for prayer requests.
