Discussion | Confession and Commitment

Jon: You have just listened to the Confession and Commitment story, and this is the discussion episode.

Recap

Cassidy: The Israelites were sorry about what they and their ancestors did. They messed up badly and told God about it all and how sad they were.

Aidan: They also praised God, acknowledging how awesome he is, and they committed themselves to the rules that Moses wrote the book of the law.

Story Episode
Nehemiah 9 – 10

Questions

  1. Cassidy: What is a regret that you have? If this is a new regret, it’s probably a good time to confess that to God with your friends or family.
  2. Aidan: Tell each other what you admire about God! Why is God so awesome?
  3. Cassidy: What commitment do you each need to make? How can you encourage each other within that commitment?

Growth Tip

Aidan: A growth tip is a way for all of us to grow in a relationship with Jesus!

Cassidy: I think there is something we need to mention about the fact that all of Israel was confessing and committing themselves.

Jon: That is a good point. Maybe we can say it this way. We are better together when we confess and commit to God with each other.

Cassidy: Yeah. It’s tough not to mess up. I need others so we can help each other on the journey!

Aidan: So the growth tip is this. Confess your mess and commit to being fit.

Cassidy: Do you mean like spiritually fit!?

Jon: LOL, ok. I like the rhyme. To clarify, confess your sins to each other and commit to an obedient God honouring life.

Prayer Requests

At the end of your discussion, go around the group and ask for prayer requests.
