Discussion | Fear the Lord and Faithfully Serve Him

Jon: Welcome to the discussion Episode for the Story, Fear the Lord and faithfully serve him.

Bradon: In today’s story Samuel gave a speech and says to Israel that they were wrong to ask for a king. They have sinned and if they don’t turn their hearts back to God it won’t go well for them. And encouraged and challenged them to Fear the Lord and faithfully serve him.

Story Episode
1 Samuel 12

Questions

  1. Jon: During this speach king Saul was standing and listening to this whole thing. How do you think it made him feel?
  2. Bradon: What is the difference between fear the emotion and fearing God?
  3. Jon: Fearing God is more of an understanding of who God is and who we are. How does fearing God help us be faithful to him?

Growth Tip

Bradon: Our growth tip is this and it’s a really important one. Confess your sin and reaffirm God as number one in your life.

Jon: You can do this on a walk while talking with God, or in your room lying on your bed, or at a table or desk journaling.

Bradon: It doesn’t matter how as much it matters the state of your heart. Let it soften.

Jon: A soft heart is a strong heart one that is faithful. A hard heart tends to be pretty fragile and rejects God consistently.

Prayer Requests

At the end of your discussion, go around the group and ask for prayer requests.
