Discussion | God Wants All of Us

Jon: You are listening to the discussion episode for the story. God Wants All of Us.

Bradon: Today, we heard about Israel turning away from their false Gods and back to God. They dedicated themselves to God. They asked Samuel to pray to God to save them from the Philistines. Amazingly that is exactly what happened. God save Israel. We learned that God wants all of us!

Story Episode
1 Samuel 7:3-17

Questions

  1. Jon: You might not have a physical statue as an idol, but what is something that is competing with God for being first in your life?
  2. Israel repented together and confessed their sins. Take time to confess your sins to one another. It’s hard, but you will find that God will lift you up as you confess.
  3. As you confessed your sins to one another. Why was that a difficult thing to do or why was it easy?

Growth Tip

Bradon: We want you to enter into a time of worship with God.

Jon: Worship is responding to who God is, what he has done or will do in a way that makes him happy!

Bradon: Think creatively about it. Could you give God a gift, write him a poem, sing a song, or give him a love letter.

Jon: I like that. Whatever form your worship takes, all we ask is that you are real – be authentic.

Bradon: Samuel worshiped God while he pleaded with God to save Israel, and he killed an animal and gave it to God as a gift. While that was normal in those days, it sure seems weird to us, but the point is that our worship is a reflection of our hearts to God.

Prayer Requests

At the end of your discussion, go around the group and ask for prayer requests.
