Discussion | Honor God
Jon: You are listening to the discussion episode for the story, “Honor God.”
Bradon: We learned of the Priest Eli and his family not honouring God in their work or lives. God warned Eli through a prophet and then promised the downfall of his family as Priests through Samuel. We learned that it is super essential for us all to Honor God!
Story Episode
1 Samuel 2:12 – 4:1a
Questions
- Describe a time when you changed for the better, and that change honoured God!
- I think most people with a phone or other electronic devices struggle to honour God with those things. What are some changes that could help you and others honour God with your devices?
- We honour God by the conversations we have. Think of the places you go to throughout your week; school, work, home, rec centers. What place is it most difficult to honour God with your conversations? What are some things you could do to change that?
Growth Tip
Jon: A tip is a way for us to grow in a relationship with Jesus. We’ve been answering questions from our campers and today’s story touches on a critical question that we received. How does a person dedicate their lifestyle to living for God?
Bradon: The short answer is this, one step at a time. There are no shortcuts. God will show us something that we need to change, give to God, and he will show us a different way to live, a way that honours God.
Jon: You know, Bradon, because the application for today’s story is so action-oriented, I am not sure we need another action.
Bradon: I would agree; remember our growth tip from last week? We thought about a characteristic that we do like; one God has gifted us. So with that in mind. Give God the characteristics or the moments that do not honour Him, and ask Him to grow the areas in your life that do!
Jon: You will have to listen, and if nothing comes to mind, just be waiting and looking for him to speak throughout your day! Our hope for you is that your life will honour God just a little more each week.
Prayer Requests
At the end of your discussion, go around the group and ask for prayer requests.
