Discussion | Jesus Invites Us to Unusual Unity
Come together and discuss the story of Zacchaeus and the lesson that Jesus invites us to unusual unity. Zacchaeus’ commitment was huge!
Zacchaeus lived in Jerusalem, was a tax collector and was short. He climbed a tree to see Jesus and then welcomed Jesus as his guest. After, he vowed to give half of his wealth to the poor and repay anyone he cheated in taxes by paying back four times the amount.

Questions
- Everyone wanted to see Jesus, including Zacchaeus. At this point, Jesus was pretty famous. If you could meet one famous person who would it be and how would that compare to meeting Jesus?
- Zacchaeus was going to use his ability to earn money to help the poor by giving them some of his money. Help one another identify each person’s abilities that could be used for Christ.
- If Jesus was walking and by greeted you by name and then said, “I am coming over for lunch” how would you respond? What would you talk to Jesus about?
Growth Tip
Jesus tells us his purpose in Luke 19:10. ‘For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”’ Please take time and reflect on how well your life aligns with this purpose. – the idea of saving those who are lost, just as Jesus, the son of man, came to do.
Do some writing in your journal and pray about this and see how God begins to mould your heart around his purpose of saving those who are lost.
No one is perfectly aligned with Christ, but list one or two changes that will help you be more unified with Christ and his purpose.
Prayer Requests
