We learned that we ought to Submit to God early. There were another five plagues, and after each plague, Pharaoh’s heart was hardened. The five plagues were the death of livestock, boils, hail, locusts, and darkness. We learned that submitting to God early on is the best thing we can do. There will never be a time earlier than right now.

Questions

  1. Exodus 9:14-17 Through Moses, God said to Pharaoh. ‘If you don’t, I will send more plagues on you and your officials and your people. Then you will know that there is no one like me in all the earth. By now I could have lifted my hand and struck you and your people with a plague to wipe you off the face of the earth. But I have spared you for a purpose—to show you my power and to spread my fame throughout the earth. But you still lord it over my people and refuse to let them go. ‘
Is God gracious by giving Pharaoh many chances to submit to him? Is God being mean by sending the plagues against Egypt?
  2. Pharaoh did not have a correct understanding of how great God is. We must continually be learning more about God. List 5 things you can do as a group to learn more about God!
  3. Do you think the following sentence could be true for you and me? “But I have spared you for a purpose—to show you my power and to spread my fame throughout the earth.” Regardless of your answer, how will you respond to God?

Growth Tip

Sometimes, it’s hard to see what we have put ahead of God. Our growth tip is simple. Ask a trusted friend or family member. Do you see anything in my life that I see as more important than God? If not, what is something that could become more important if I am not careful?

Conversations with friends or family are among the most significant ways to grow in a relationship with Jesus. Others can see things that we are often blind to and cannot see.

Schedule that conversation soon and have a great chat.

Prayer Requests

At the end of your discussion, go around the group and ask for prayer requests.
