Discussion | There is Hope in Jesus

Welcome to the discussion episode for the story; There is hope in Jesus. God told Ahaz not to worry and told him to ask for something to confirm God’s predictions. Ahaz refused to put God to the test. So God gave him the prophecy of Jesus Birth to a virgin named Mary and that he would be called Immanuel – God with us.

Lesson

There is Hope in Jesus

Questions

  1. Share the most challenging situation that you are currently facing. How does Jesus, Immanuel, God with us, bring you hope?
  2. God loves you and me more than we can comprehend. He has given Christians the Holy Spirit, Jesus’ spirit, to live in us; this allows us to live with hope. Do you think people see you as a hope-filled person? Why or why not?
  3. The Jews were hoping for a military leader, someone to lead them out from under Roman rule. They were hoping for this kind of Messiah. Jesus turned out to be a different kind of Messiah. Their hope was in a human idea. We want our hope based on God’s promises and predictions.

Growth Tip

One of the themes in today’s lesson was hope. Isaiah brought a message of hope to King Ahaz, which turned into worry and fear since he rejected God! Right now, we are living through some tough times with COVID 19. Be a messenger of hope; God is with us today through the Holy Spirit!

I like that, but bringing hope to others is dependent on their response. So I think to take it a step further. We could also share how God has brought us hope, personally!

Prayer Requests

At the end of your discussion, go around the group and ask for prayer requests.
