Discussion | Be Ready to Follow Wholeheartedly

Jon: You are listening to the discussion episode for the story Be Ready to Follow Wholeheartedly.

Bradon: Today, we heard about God promising Zechariah and Elizabeth a baby in their old age. Zechariah did not believe and then found himself unable to speak until the baby was born, and they announced that his name would be John. Mary also had a visit from an angel who promised a baby to her! The crazy thing was she was a virgin, and so becoming pregnant would be a miracle! We learned that it is essential that we are ready to follow God wholeheartedly.

Story Episode
Luke 1

Questions

  1. In your group or family, who would have the most difficult time not being able to talk for nine months?
  2. This is a dangerous question, so get ready. Ask someone in your group or family about an area of growth for you. Now to those answering the question, this is not when we vent about everything that irritates us about that person. Answer the question so that they can grow in a relationship with Jesus.
  3. Looking at the world around you. Where would you like God to intervene and act?

Growth Tip

Jon: We have been answering many questions from campers from this past summer, and it’s been terrific.

Bradon: Today’s tip is pretty straightforward, but we may feel kind of lost in it! Connect with a mentor regularly.

Jon: A mentor is someone who loves you and can help you grow in a relationship with Jesus.

Bradon: They are a person who can answer your questions, pray with you, and teach you about the Christian life.

Jon: Many of my mentors don’t even know they are my mentors. We just connect as friends would, and I ask them questions, and we will often pray together. Mentors have always been a massive part of my maturing and growing closer to Jesus.

Bradon: So connect with a mentor, and if you are unsure who a good mentor would be, then pray about it and ask God to bring someone to mind!

Jon: You have to have the courage to connect, but don’t worry, every good mentor will want to communicate with you too!

Prayer Requests

At the end of your discussion, go around the group and ask for prayer requests.
