Discussion | Choose Your Friends Wisely

Jon: You are listening to the discussion episode for the story, “Choose Your Friends Wisely.”

Bradon: Today we saw God be silent to King Saul and refuse to help. Not even speaking with Samuel through a medium helped. Samuel just confirmed that God was now Saul’s enemy.

Jon: We also see David and King Achish become friends. David was not honest with King Achish which nearly cost him a lot when King Achish and the rest of the Philistine Kings went to war against Saul and the Israelites.

Bradon: We learned that it is super important to choose your friends wisely.

Story Episode
1 Samuel 28-29

Questions

  1. Bradon: What friend’s do you have where you help each other grow in a relationship with God?
  2. Jon: What friendships do you have where no one is encouraging each other to grow closer to God? What could you change to make it more encouraging as it relates to a growing relationship with Jesus.
  3. Bradon: What friendships do you have that are dangerous for your relationship with God?

Growth Tip

Bradon: Gather a few friends and do something together to help you grow as a group. You could listen to this podcast and the bonus discussion episode. You could pray together, or you could maybe think about how you can love your community by helping meet the needs of others.

Jon: Sounds like you are wanting them to form a little God Squad!

Bradon: LOL, I almost forgot about our nickname for the disciples. The  God Squad. That’s exactly what I want them to do. Gather your friends and form your “God squad” so you can encourage each other to grow and meet the needs of our hurting world.

Prayer Requests

At the end of your discussion, go around the group and ask for prayer requests.
