Discussion | Believe in God’s Son

Jon: Welcome, you are listening to the discussion episode titled, “Believe in God’s Son.”

Bradon: We saw a little bit of Jealousy and skepticism from John, the Baptists’ disciples. John responds with an epic monologue and a drop mic moment leaving the disciples with a lot to ponder.

Jon: As promised, we will explore the concept of what it means to believe in Jesus and talk about the implications of believing in him. So after each question, Bradon or I will speak before we ask the next question!

Story Episode

John 3:22-36

Questions

  1. What is one thing that is hard to believe about Jesus?
  2. John the Baptist connected the idea of belief in Jesus and submitting or obeying him. Do the concepts of belief and obedience fit together? Why or why not?
  3. Is there anything about Jesus that makes you want to believe in him? If so, what makes it so desirable?

Growth Tip

Bradon: We want you to finish the sentence. Finish it a few times.

Jon: The sentence is this. If I believe in Jesus, I …

Bradon: So an example would be. If I believe in Jesus, I will love others.

Jon: My turn, If I believe in Jesus, I will one day live with him in Heaven

Bradon: Nice. Ok, so you can modify the sentence if you want. Perhaps you are thinking, “I do believe in Jesus, so it’s not an if” So rather than saying “if I believe in Jesus,” you could say, “because I believe in Jesus.” The point is to think through the ramifications –  of belief in Jesus!

Prayer Requests

At the end of your discussion, go around the group and ask for prayer requests.
