Come together and discuss the story of Zacchaeus and the lesson that Jesus invites us to unusual unity. Zacchaeus’ commitment was huge!

Zacchaeus lived in Jerusalem, was a tax collector and was short. He climbed a tree to see Jesus and then welcomed Jesus as his guest. After, he vowed to give half of his wealth to the poor and repay anyone he cheated in taxes by paying back four times the amount.

Today’s lesson was called to love. We spoke specifically about a section of the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 5:38-48. It speaks of how we are called to love and not just those who are easy or fun to love, but even those we hate, hurt us, and do us wrong! A tough calling indeed!

We heard about Bartimaeus calling out to Jesus, and then Jesus asks him, What do you want me to do for you?” Bartimaeus asks for sight. Jesus heals him, restoring his eyesight. 

We learned that we are not going to annoy Jesus with our desperation and asking him a lot and that we can tell him honestly what it is that we want him to do for us!

Today we spoke about the renewal and redemption that came through God. Specifically, through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and the newness that he brings to all aspects of our life! He has brought a new thing to the world.

We spoke about Psalms 45 today. And the idea of God’s Kingdom, his guidance and leadership. His overseeing of humanity, and the love that He is and brings to this! His Kingdom is Love.
