Discussion | The Story of Jesus Spread Faster

Jon: You are listening to the discussion questions for the episode, “The Story of Jesus Spread Faster”

Bradon: In today’s story, we learned about a good man, Stephen, who was falsely accused and then murdered. The religious leaders and other Jews were angry that he was sharing the message about Jesus, so they lied about what he was saying. Long story short, they dragged him out of the city and threw rocks at him until he died. That very day the people began persecuting the believers in Jerusalem and Judea. The believers were scattered all over and took the message about Jesus with them. We learned that during the worst-case scenario, the story about Jesus was spreading faster than ever!

Discussion | Admit Our Wrongs

Bradon: You are listening to the discussion questions for the episode Admit our Wrongs.

Jon: Today we read a short but powerful story about a disagreement in the early group lead by the disciples. There were individuals being left out of the daily distribution, or in other words not being treated fairly. The disciples recognized they had done wrong, but also recognized that they themselves could not solve this issue. They appointed seven other individuals to care for the people and resolve this issue, which in turn fostered further unity in the group, rather than dividing its people.

A Privilege to suffer for Christ

Bradon: Hey Jon, we are both younger brothers! Would you say it was a privilege to suffer the torment from your older brother?

Jon: Nope, not at all.

Bradon: Coming up on the bible story podcast, we learn that it is a privilege to suffer for Christ!

Jon: That seems backwards. Is suffering a Privilege?

Discussion | A Privilege to suffer for Christ

Jon: You are listening to the questions for the episode “A Privilege to suffer for Christ.”

Bradon: We learned that the disciples continued to heal the sick through the power of Jesus and share the message of Jesus even though the religious leaders warned them not to speak about Jesus any longer. In the end, they were flogged and warned again to stop spreading the message about Jesus. After their brutal whipping, they continued to spread the news about the messiah. They felt it was a privilege to suffer for Christ.

Discussion | Hold Everything Lightly

Bradon: You are listening to the discussion questions for the episode hold everything lightly!

Jon: In today’s story we saw a group of believers brought together in unity through God’s truth. They were all so excited to be in a relationship with God they felt it necessary to sell everything and give the money to the disciples to carry on the mission of spreading the story of Jesus. Ananias and Sapphira, a married couple, tried to deceive the group and receive praise by lying about what they had offered. They had secretly kept much of their land and only given a portion of the sale price to the disciples. When Peter confronted them on the lie they did not come clean with the truth. They both suffered death due to the deception of their people and God.

Discussion | A Dangerous Prayer

Jon: You are listening to the discussion episode for the story A Dangerous Prayer.

Bradon: Today was the continuation of the story about the crippled man being healed. The religious leader arrested and confronted Peter and John about the healing and preaching about Jesus. The two men spoke boldly about Jesus and refused to listen and made it clear that they would continue to heal and speak about Jesus. The religious leaders released the two men with warnings and threats instructing them to stop. As soon as they were released they went back to meet with the other believers in prayer. The Holy Spirit came and they went out speaking and preaching boldly about Christ.

Look to God with Expectation

Today, Let us learn from the beggar and look to God with expectation.

Bradon: You and I both like to be right, I am sure it can be a point of contention sometimes with the people around us!

Jon: Definitely can be.

Bradon: Okay, keep that in mind, in your next story I couldn’t stop thinking about how frustrated I would have been to be in the disciple’s shoes!

Jon: It is hard, even in the small things to not brag about being right!
