Discussion | Compassion Over Judgement

Jon: You are listening to the discussion episode for the story, choose compassion over judgement.

Bradon: Jesus meets a Samaritan woman who her people and the Jews have marginalized. Jesus spoke with her and chose compassion over judgement. He told her all kinds of things, even some things that only her closest friends would have known, and then revealed to her that he is the Messiah. The whole town came out to meet Jesus, and they too believed in Jesus. The disciples watched all of this unfold and saw just how wrong they viewed others, and learned the value of choosing compassion over judgement.

Bradon: A short recap of the story and then onto the questions! Jon take it away.

Jon: Jesus and a man named Nicodemus are having a discussion, specifically about being born and reborn. Jesus then goes on to share the importance of physical and spiritual birth. And that through Him, people are made new, reborn and will live in eternity with Him—pretty big stuff.

Discussion | Passion for God’s House

Jon: Here is a quick recap, and then we will get into the discussion questions for the Episode, “Passion for God’s House.”

Bradon: So Jesus goes to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. He walks into the temple and sees a marketplace for people to buy animals to then sacrifice in worship to God. Jesus gets mad, makes a whip out of some rope and then chases the merchants and animals out of the temple. The religious leaders question his authority, and the disciples remembered the prophecy that the Messiah would be filled with passion for God’s house! We learned that we, too, can be passionate about God’s house. Christians are now God’s house with God’s Holy Spirit living in them.

Bradon: Here are our discussion questions for the episode, Wait in God.

Jon: A quick recap. A wedding that Jesus and Mary had been attending ran out of wine. Mary and Jesus have an interesting conversation after Mary volunteers Jesus to help. Jesus then performs a miracle and transforms the water that had just been poured into the empty clay pots into wine. This was the first public miracle Jesus had performed and this moment really sets into motion His years in public ministry.
